Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.
Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for the latest gossip.
Stephy Mavididi to MK Dons
League One side MK Dons have been linked with a loan move for Arsenal's young attacking prodigy Stephy Mavididi. The 18-year-old striker was top scorer for Arsenal's under-21 side last season, and Arsene Wenger may want his academy product to go out on loan to experience first-team football. However, the Dons have competition from fellow League One side Charlton Athletic for the starlet's signature.
Craig Gordon to Chelsea
Reports are continuing to link Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon with a move to Premier League leaders Chelsea. Current Blues keeper Asmir Begovic is reported to want a move away to secure first-team football, with Bournemouth the most likely destination, but the Stamford Bridge club are unwilling to let the Bosnian leave without first signing a replacement. Gordon has Premier League experience having spent five years with Sunderland, but Chelsea have also been linked with Espanyol's Diego Lopez and Galatasaray's Fernando Muslera.
Marco Reus to Arsenal
With doubts over the futures of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, Borussia Dortmund's attacking midfielder Marco Reus is being strongly linked as a potential replacement should one or both of the stars leave the Emirates. Reus has made just six appearances for Dortmund so far this season, having missed the first 11 games due to injury, but the Germany international has already scored two and provided three in that time. The 27-year old has remained loyal to Dortmund despite interest from bigger clubs, but The Telegraph reports he could be persuaded by a big money offer from the Premier League side.
Youri Tielemans to Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham are reportedly frontrunners for the signature of Anderlecht's 18-year old midfielder Youri Tielemans, considered one of Belgian football's hottest young talents. A number of top European clubs are interested in the Belgian, but the Daily Star is reporting that Spurs have entered negotiations over a transfer valued at £15 million plus add-ons. Tielemans has scored 12 goals in 30 appearances for Anderlecht so far this term.
Tiemoue Bakayoko to Manchester United
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wants to bring in at least one player before the January transfer window shuts and is targeting Monaco's defensive midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko according to The Sunday Times. The 22-year old has made 18 appearances for the Ligue 1 side this season, who currently top the French top division on goal difference. The Sunday Times also claimed that United had been in talks with the French side over a possible deal, however the player said back in December: "I won't leave Monaco this winter, that's for sure. I don't want to leave. Today, I have two goals: two finish as a champion in France and to go as far as possible in the Champions League."
