In this June 23, 2014 file photo, fighters from the Islamic State group parade in a commandeered Iraqi security forces armored vehicle down a main road at the northern city of Mosul, Iraq.
The U.S.-led coalition against the Islamic State destroyed the main pipeline supplying water to Raqqa — the extremist group’s de facto capital — Syrian state media reported Friday.
The coalition didn’t immediately comment on the report. The militants, who have taken over swaths of Syria and neighboring Iraq, seized Raqqa in Jan. 2014.
Iraqi forces are on an offensive against the Islamic State in Mosul, Iraq's second-largest city and the militants' last major stronghold in that country.
